More than 24 tons of waste collected for World Cleanup Day 2020.

A washing machine, a bench, 230 tires, a frying pan, a doll’s stroller, two car batteries, nearly 180 surgical masks and… a 50 euro bill: these are some of the unusual waste that the SeaCleaners have allowed to pick up on the occasion of the 2020 edition of World Cleanup Day, on Saturday, September 19.

In total, more than 24 tonnes of litter, including 171,211 cigarette ends, were collected by our association and its partners, during this special day during which millions of volunteers from all over the world come together to rid our planet of waste. – by cleaning up rubbish and poorly managed waste on our beaches, along rivers, in forests and on the streets.

A big thank you to our some 950 volunteers who took part in 24 clean-up operations, in metropolitan France, overseas and in Switzerland! From Brittany to the Côte d’Azur, via the North, Lyon and Savoy, despite the particular health context, which imposed many constraints and could have discouraged more than one, our SeaCleaners have responded by number and helped make this day a tremendous success. For World Cleanup Day, for the association but above all for the planet. 24 tonnes of waste collected, that is 24 tonnes of waste that will not permanently contaminate the environment.

A special tip of the hat to nine of our patrons (SOCAPS, ED-Trans, Pilot, Spadel, Externatic, Obeo, Epson, Tribee, Jacques Frelin) whose employees participated in 17 cleaning operations, under our leadership, thus demonstrating a once again their commitment to the preservation of the oceans.

And a special thank you to the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo who did us the honor and friendship of actively participating in our Parisian fundraising.

Through this commitment, The SeaCleaners reaffirms that the collective fight against oceanic plastic pollution is won both at sea and on land, and remains true to its philosophy that the best awareness is through action!

We look forward to seeing you for future collection operations very soon! Do not hesitate to subscribe to our newsletter to be informed of the dates.
