Route du Rhum 2022: Heading to Guadeloupe

On November 6th, the start of the 12th edition of the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe will be given in Saint-Malo.

This 3,542 nautical mile solo race has been linking Brittany to Guadeloupe for 44 years and has marked the history of sailing on many occasions. This year, 138 boats divided into 6 categories will set off for at least a week’s crossing of the Atlantic to Pointe-à-Pitre.

And we will be following one of them with particular attention, since Yves Courbon has chosen to wear the colors of The SeaCleaners on his Class40. After being put in touch by the Groupe Monassier Ouest Atlantique office, sponsor of The SeaCleaners like all the Groupe Monassier studies, the connection was immediate. Yves, used to criss-crossing the oceans, feels particularly concerned by their protection and the fight against plastic pollution which inflicts considerable damage on them.  It was therefore natural for him to take advantage of the exposure offered by this mythical race to promote an association to the millions of visitors and spectators of the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe, and we are proud and happy that he chose The SeaCleaners.

“We, sailors, are the first witnesses of the ocean plastic pollution. This is what made me decide to take action and dedicate myself to The SeaCleaners, even if it means spending less time sailing. So I am all the more happy when skippers involved in the biggest races choose to support our fight in this way. Thank you Yves and good luck! ”
